The Language Education Center (LEC) was established in June 1999 with the intent to integrate the operations of two separate centers: the Language Research Institute originally founded in 1969 and the Foreign Language Education Center established in 1994. Its mission is to provide CBNU students and citizens with quality instruction in the Korean language as well as foreign languages (English, French, Japanese, Chinese and Spanish).

The Language Education Center offers various training programs and courses to help students achieve competence in their chosen language. Highly qualified native speakers teach all courses, using the 'total immersion' teaching method that allows only the target language to be spoken in the classroom. The Language Education Center is equipped with new and updated facilities for language training; These facilities include an Audio-Visual Room, four Language Labs, three Audio Libraries, a Video/DVD Room, a Satellite Broadcasting Room, fifteen Classrooms, and a lounge. Facilities are open to all registered students from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Students can watch satellite TV programs and enjoy regularly scheduled English, French, Spanish and Japanese movies.

The A/V Room is open to everyone free of charge and seats 120 students. The Center has four language training labs that accommodate up to 80 students each. Each lab is equipped with an audio-visual and listening comprehension system that includes televisions and video cassette players. Three Audio Libraries provide students with 240 private cassette-tape players and over 5000 different audio tapes (with 1000 books) in English, French, German, Japanese, Chinese, Spanish and Russian. The Video/DVD Room consists of 20 private VCR and DVD player booths.

An academic year at the LEC is composed of six eight-week terms (two terms during the Spring and Fall Semester, and one term during Summer and Winter vacation, respectively). In addition, an ABC News lecture is offered four times every Friday.
